How to receive notifications from WooCommerce with PingBell

Connect your WooCommerce store to PingBell so every order rings a bell on every team phone — via the WordPress plugin or a manual webhook.

Yoav Shalev · · Updated January 9, 2024

WooCommerce stores that don’t use PingBell find out about new orders by refreshing the orders screen. Stores that do use PingBell hear a bell on every team phone the moment a customer pays.

The path is the official PingBell WooCommerce plugin — install it, connect your store with a short code, and it wires the webhooks by itself. A Zapier fallback is covered at the end for stores that prefer not to install another plugin.

Requirements: a WordPress site with WooCommerce installed. (No PingBell account yet? The connect flow creates one on the way.)

Step 1: Install the plugin

In WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New, search “PingBell”, then Install and Activate.

Step 2: Connect your store

The plugin sends you to PingBell with a short connect code. Sign in — or sign up on the spot with the same passwordless email-link flow.

Step 3: Pick the events

On the Connect your store page, tick which events should ring the bell. New orders is on by default and powers both the order count and revenue; completed orders and add-to-carts are there if you want them. Click Connect store.

Step 4: Let WordPress finish the wiring

That’s it — your WordPress admin picks up the connection and creates the webhooks by itself. A source is created per event you picked, named after your store.

Step 5: Configure the celebration

On PingBell’s Sources page, click the pencil on your new source, set a celebration message, and pick a sound from the 70+ built-in library.

Step 6: Invite your team (optional)

Open Workspace & Teams and add teammates by email so they hear the bell on their own phones — no per-viewer charges.

Step 7: You’re done

Every time an order lands in WooCommerce, the bell rings — on every team phone with the PingBell mobile app, and on every screen casting your board. Place a test order to hear it.

Prefer not to install a plugin?

Use Zapier: WooCommerce’s “New order” trigger plus the PingBell action (authenticate with your API key). Slower than the plugin and uses Zapier quota, but zero plugins added to your site.
