How to receive notifications from WooCommerce with PingBell

Connect your WooCommerce store to PingBell so every order rings a bell on every team phone — via the WordPress plugin or a manual webhook.

Yoav Shalev · · Updated January 9, 2024

WooCommerce stores that don’t use PingBell find out about new orders by refreshing the orders screen. Stores that do use PingBell hear a bell on every team phone the moment a customer pays.

The fastest path is the official PingBell WooCommerce plugin — install, paste your API key, click a button, done. The manual webhook flow below is for stores that prefer not to install another plugin.

Requirements: a PingBell account and a WordPress site with WooCommerce installed.

Step 1: Create a PingBell account

Sign up for free at PingBell.io.

Step 2: Create your first PingBell

From the dashboard, click Create PingBell.

Step 3: Configure the notification

Name the PingBell (“WooCommerce orders”, “New sales”, or whatever fits), set the notification message, and pick a sound from PingBell’s 70+ built-in library.

Step 4: Invite your team (optional)

Add teammates by username or email so they receive notifications on their own phones at no extra cost.

Step 5: Open your WordPress dashboard

Make sure WooCommerce is installed and activated.

Step 6: Open WooCommerce settings

Navigate to WooCommerce → Settings.

Step 7: Open the Advanced tab

Click into the Advanced section of WooCommerce settings.

Step 8: Find Webhooks

Click Webhooks in the Advanced settings.

Step 9: Create a new webhook

Click Create new webhook. Give it a name. Set status to Active. Pick the event — most stores choose Order created or Order updated.

Step 10: Copy your PingBell URL

Back in PingBell, click the three dots next to your PingBell and Copy URL.

Step 11: Paste the URL

Paste your PingBell URL into the Delivery URL field of the WooCommerce webhook form, then click Save.

Step 12: You’re done

Every time the chosen event fires in WooCommerce, your PingBell rings — on every team phone with the PingBell mobile app installed.

The plugin path is faster

If you’d rather skip the manual webhook setup, install the PingBell for WooCommerce plugin from the WordPress plugin directory. Paste your API key, pick a counter and an event, click Save — total time under 5 minutes.
